MORNING KEYNOTE - Marilyn King "Living Like an Olympian"

 Marilyn King

How to Perform at Your Best — Every Day No Matter What

In this dynamic, fact-filled, and entertaining keynote program, two-time Olympian Marilyn King reveals the secrets of exceptional human performance.

Featured in the new book, Enlightened lightened Power - How Women are Transforming the Practice of Leadership, Marilyn's influence reaches beyond sports into areas of business, leadership development and exceptional human performance. Marilyn was already a two-time Olympian when a devastating automobile accident left her unable to train physically for her third Olympic team. Using only mental training she placed second in the demanding 5-event pentathlon at the 1980 Olympic Trials. Ms. King has been one of America’s leading authorities on exceptional human performance. With over twenty five years of extensive research into the secrets of extraordinary accomplishment in sports, business, and education, she delivers powerful, proven, and practical tools that help her audiences release the ‘Olympian’ within themselves. Her common sense approach, unique insights, and inspiring presence deliver lasting results wherever she speaks.

Packed Hall attends "Just Between Friends" event
Community News

Three pairs of entrepreneurs recalled stories of how they co-founded their respective companies in front of a sold-out audience in Santa Clara on the evening of Wednesday December 8, 2010. With over 160 attendees, there was only standing room available at the historic first ever collaborative event between OPEN SV and TiE SV. The co-founders of Kno, D5, and Ankeena, displayed tremendous solidarity with their founding partners as they dodged several awkward questions from the crowd. Clearly, they formed their companies on the basis of solid trust coupled with sharp business acumen. In an admirable attempt to inject critical thinking into the discussion, OPEN SV President Naeem Zafar tried his best to dispel the notion that starting a company with a friend could work as well as it had for the panelists, but the latter were steadfast in their loyalty to each other.

Panel at the Event

The key takeaway for the evening was that not every friend has the potential of being a good business partner. Ankeena co-founder Rajan Raghavan made a telling point by stating that a CEO can cause more damage to the company by failing to fire his or her friend (if necessary), who may have even co-founded the company, than by keeping him or her.
